Aid and Support After Pregnancy

The Supreme Court upheld the  Dobbs v. Jackson  ruling thus overturning  Roe v. Wade ! While we take a moment to celebrate this historic decision,  our fight for life continues! Pro-life clinics throughout the United States and Canada continue their service to women and their children beyond birth. To better assist these centers, the Knights of Columbus has created the  ASAP   (Aid and Support After Pregnancy)  initiative. This Fraternal year, the Knights of Columbus pledge $5M in support of local pregnancy centers, maternity homes, and other organizations that give direct assistance to new mothers and their babies. Women's Health Protection Act

Dear Brother Knights, Your immediate action is necessary to protect pro-life laws! Tomorrow, the United States House of Representatives will vote again on the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act,” deceptively named legislation that would cancel state pro-life laws and codify the now-defunct  Roe v. Wade  as the law of the land. Further, the law does not provide meaningful religious exemptions which may force Catholic medical professionals and hospitals to perform, or participate in, abortions. With the ability to determine abortion laws returned to the people following the overturn of  Roe v. Wade , your action is all-the-more necessary! Not only is this proposed-legislation bad public policy, but its provisions are also deeply unpopular with the American people. Obit Brother Knight Ed Judge.

EDWARD ROBERT JUDGE Edward (Ed) Judge passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Ed was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 4, 1932.  He moved to Newport R.I. with his mother and two sisters after his father’s passing. After graduating high school, Ed entered into the military.  Specifically, the 8Airborne Division.  He had told his family on numerous occasions, he had done this to get over his fear of heights. When he was honorably discharged from the military, he started his career working for the Newport Daily News.  Ed worked in the composing room of the Daily News until his retirement. Ed was a devoted and loving husband to his with Ruth (Dunn), being her primary caretaker when she had Alzheimer’s.  Ed was also a caring, fantastic, loving father to his three children. Ed was always interested in scouting from an early age.  This interest continued and he formed Troop 12 at Emmanuel Church when he lived in Newport.  When he moved his family to Portsm
