Thanks

Worthy Brothers:

For those of you along with your guests, I trust everyone had a great time.

DJ Dan came out of retirement for his first trivia game night in close to a year, and this event made him decide to get back to doing so on a regular basis.  Many thanks to DJ Dan, as he did a great job and had some terrific brain teasers.

The Council wants to thank George and Cecilia Holland, owners of Logan Turnpike Mills for donating the prizes for the Team Trivia Contest.  They were very much appreciated by the eight-person team that won.

For the chili contest, we had 15 entries, and 48 people in attendance.  47 tickets were sold, and one was comp'd.  15 people who had purchased tickets, did not come to the event.  Father Wise said the blessing and later after 6:30 PM mass ended, Father Lopez stopped by to say hello and see how things were going.  Due to the quantity of croc pots, judging took about 30 minutes, once it got started at about 5:40 PM.

We had two chicken chili crock pots one of which got third place and made by Caroline Lucas.  Second place was a Texas red style, and first place was a more traditional style.  There was a venison-based chili made by WB Ron Tomczyk.  Most of the other chili recipes were either beef based, beef and pork based, and one was beef/chicken/pork based. There was plenty to eat by all, and many of the crockpots still had multiple servings remaining.

Ron T's venison and the Texas Red crocks were the first to be emptied.

Most of the deserts were eaten, though a few did have remnants that made it home.  Many thanks to those who brought deserts.

Many thanks go to Zachary Lucas, and his parents for bringing him, so he could help ensure the condiment area was kept filled, until the condiments ran out. The Lucas family also hauled away the trash bags. Thank you!

Lew Gebhardt and Ralph Kwiatkowski helped with the table set-up and putting out the tablecloths, and bowls and table ware.  Many thanks go to my wife for selecting the table decor, and for her finishing touches on tables.

On behalf of the Council, we hope everyone had a great time.  Thank you for attending and thank you for the variety of chili recipes offered for the contest.

Vivat Jesus,
Rick Graff
