4th of July

Image
Dear Worthy Brothers - On this upcoming long weekend when we celebrate Independence Day, take a moment to thank God for our special country and all the wonderful things he and our country has provided for us. On July 4, make it a point to read once again our beloved and dear Declaration of Independence, so many have sacrificed the ultimate price to ensure our freedoms.  This document is the beginning of our efforts as a people to "achieve a more perfect union" under God. Vivat Jesus and God Bless America! Rick Graff

Passing of Ed Judge

Worthy Brothers - Worthy Brother Sir Knight Ron Chmiel called me earlier today to inform me that Worthy Brother Sir Knight Edward R. Judge, who had been in hospice care, passed away today.  He was a member of Blue Ridge Council 12126, and a Member of Blairsville/Blue Ridge Assembly 2563. Dave Pierman (Past Grand Knight of Council 12126) is in contact with Ed's family and Fr. John Conway of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bue Ridge, regarding final arrangements for Worthy Brother Ed Judge. As those plans are finalized, we will keep you posted. Fraternally yours, Rick Graff

Roe V Wade

Image
My Brother Knights: After nearly 50 years, the wrong decision that was made in  Roe v. Wade  has been set right. The Supreme Court’s historic decision in  Dobbs v. Jackson Women’ Health Organization  overturning both  Roe  and  Planned Parenthood v. Casey , is a watershed moment in the movement that generations of Knights of Columbus have worked and prayed for. Indeed, it is one of the most significant advancements in human rights in our nation’s history. We are grateful and encouraged by the Court’s finding that abortion is not a “constitutional right.” But we must not think that today is a day to declare victory. Instead, I call upon every member of the Knights of Columbus to redouble their personal efforts to build up the Culture of Life that St. John Paul II described in his prophetic encyclical letter  Evangelium Vitae . With  Roe  reversed, federal advocacy to protect unborn life is still necessary, but the decision opens wide the doors for states to consider their own abortion l

Council Projects

Worthy Brothers - As an aside to the meeting minutes sent to you earlier today, please note that it was agreed to have the Knights collect money at all Knights functions for the Paver project! Ralph Reuter and I will come up with some ideas for the artwork for the collection can, and maybe a poster for a small tripod.  This is going to be a big deal for the parish and for the Knights in general. Fraternally, Rick

Council Year in Review

Worthy Brothers -  My second term as your Grand Knight for K of C Council 11746 is nearing its end.  I want to thank all the council members for the support they have provided over the past two years, while being your Grand Knight.  It has been an honor to serve you and one that I will remember for a long time. I am pleased to report our Council is more financially sound than it was during the onset of COVID-19.  We have good procedures and documentation in place for St. Patrick's Day, Chili Cook-Off/Trivia Night, and Cajun/Mardi Gras socials.  Oktoberfest has always been handled well by Jim Brown.  Breakfasts and socials were a great source for social interaction between parish members and guests. The new formats for holding Officer and Member meetings worked extremely well and accomplished everything they were intended to.  We have used the K of C microphone and amp/speaker system for several of the meetings, and I recommend using them for all future meetings, as the acoustics i

Installation of Officers

Worthy Brothers - One behalf of GK-Elect Glenn Harahan, he has asked me to have you contact him regarding attendance at the Installation Ceremony and the dinner to be held afterwards on 14 July 2022.  The previous ideas for the dinner had to be scrapped due to issues outside of our control. The dinner will be catered by Jim's Smokin' Que, and the cost will be $20.00 per person.  Dinner attendees are asked to bring a dessert to pass, and your "favorite" beverage.  The Council will provide water and coffee to drink.  The menu arrangements will be finalized this week and will be advised in a separate email. Glenn has asked all of you to let him know who will attend the dinner, as he will need to make a preliminary commitment for a head count by this Friday, and a final commitment a little later. Please call or text him at 352-650-3117 or email him at  boggie34609@yahoo.com  with your decision.  On behalf of Glenn, thank you for your understanding!  Do not call or text me

Support the National Eucharistic Revival

Image
Dear Brother Knights, As you may know, the Bishops of the United States have called for a National Eucharistic Revival, challenging Catholics across the US to deepen their reverence for Jesus Christ, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. As I have said before, we are honored to support the National Eucharistic Revival. As Knights of the Eucharist, it is our task to deepen our own devotion. This can be done through prayer, faithful attendance at Mass, and Adoration. To support you, your families, and your communities as you grow in your commitment to the Eucharist, the Supreme Council has developed and gathered resources both for personal and council use. Among these resources are Eucharistic Procession training videos and guides that you and your councils are invited to use in support of your parishes. These resources have been developed in consultation with the USCCB and have been shared with dioceses across the country. I am also happy to share with you a new inspirational and ca
