Blood Drive

Dear Worthy Brothers - Ref:  https://www.redcrossblood.org/ mydrives.html/drive/1-CA3R8PC   The referenced blood drive still has four power red appointment time slots still open.  If you are able to donate Power Red, now is the time to sign up, before these slots are taken.                                                   If they do fill up, just keep checking back every few days, as sometimes people cancel their reservations. 4th Degree Exemplifications

Dear Worthy Brothers: Those of you who are not already 4th Degree Knights, are invited to become a 4th Degree Knight. The next exemplification is not on the GAKOFC.org calendar, since it is so close in time to the one being held in Southern Georgia on April 30.  The exemplification team requires that there be a specified minimum number of candidates taking part in the fourth degree. It is my understanding more information will be posted online, once the event on April 30 is completed, but based upon my knowledge of having attended three or four of these exemplifications, I can tell you the following: 1. You must be in good standing in the council - most importantly have your dues up to date. 2. The cost is $70.00, and includes the social baldric, certificate suitable for framing, and 4th degree pin.  3. There is a dress code.   3A. If you are not in the military, then you are to wear a black, dark gray, or dark blue business suit a white shirt having a lay down collar (not button down)

Str. Joseph Pilram Icon

Dear Worthy Brothers: Some of you have been asking what the subject is all about and mentioned on the posters located the main entry to church and at the main entries to Marian Hall.  This is a prayer and mass service that Fr. Mario and I have discussed during the last two months, and decided to set May 25, 2022 as the date for the above mentioned event based upon the availability of the traveling icon.  There had been a brief mention of this in the minutes of one of our recent meetings. What follows describes what this is all about: Every few years, the Knights of Columbus selects an icon of a saint whose patronage is particularly inspiring to Knights and their communities. Each jurisdiction receives one or several of these icons which travel from council to council and serve as the centerpieces for prayer services in parishes throughout the Order. Since the first traveling pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1979, more than 174,800 council and parish prayer services with some 22

Open Blog to see Pictures...... Dear Worthy Brothers - It is with a sadness that I announce the passing of our dear Worthy Brother James Lee Priest, who left us this morning to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.  May God grant him eternal rest.  Jim was a 4th Degree Knight in Assembly 2563, and a 3rd Degree Knight in Council 11746. Regarding funeral and inurnment details, I have been advised of the following: Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26th, at 10am. Message from Supreme Knight Kelly

April 16, 2022 My brother Knights: On this Holy Saturday, I want to share with you this inspiring  video  with the stirring words of a brother Knight, the Venerable Servant of God Fulton J. Sheen: “How can we celebrate Easter in a world that is like a Good Friday?” The past two years, and especially the past two months, have certainly felt like Good Friday as our world has grappled with the devastating COVID-19 pandemic and watched with horror the atrocities unfolding amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Yes, there can be no doubt that “evil has its hour.” But evil does not have the last word. And I am immensely proud that Knights of Columbus never sit silently in the face of evil. Knights always answer evil — in prayer and in action. We saw that when Knights resolved to leave no neighbor behind, reaching out to those in need during the pandemic. This Holy Week, I have seen it firsthand, visiting Knights in Poland and Ukraine who are working heroically to provide relief to refuge

Financial Broadcast

Dear Brothers, Families, and Fellow Parishioners  If you’re anything like me, you sometimes get confused by all of the rules and regulations that govern our financial lives.  What can we do? When can we do it? How much is too much? When is too soon? What’s taxed? What’s not? Those questions become even more important and even more complicated when you’re working through your retirement plan. That’s when the stakes are at their highest.  Everyone’s situation is different and warrants the attention of their own tax, legal or accounting professional. But there are some recognized experts in the field who can impart valuable general wisdom. I want to invite you to hear from one of those experts.  Our agency is helping host a special live webinar “Retirement Planning in a Changing Landscape” featuring America’s IRA Expert Ed Slott. Ed is a nationally recognized speaker, television personality and best-selling author known for his unparalleled ability to turn advanced tax strategies into und

April Breakfast

Dear Worthy Brothers - Many thanks to the Breakfast team for providing wonderful food for our breakfast guests, and to the men and women of the Nature Conservancy Ministry, who volunteered to clean the "real" dishes and tableware used by all. The Nature Conservancy Ministry is volunteering to do this work in hopes of raising enough donations to purchase a commercial dishwashing machine to replace the dish sanitizer machine currently in use in the kitchen, so that the use of disposable plates, cups, and tableware are minimized.  A professional commercial grade dishwasher is needed to help larger groups having sit down meals, since the sanitizing machine only cleans the dishes - it does not dry them. They are accepting donations at all meal events they help clean dishes for.  A special donation vase and signage has been developed by them to assist in the collections.  Fraternally, Rick Graff

A New Opportunity to Support Ukraine this Easter

A New Opportunity to Support Ukraine this Easter   Easter is almost here, and we are teaming up with brother Knights in Poland to assemble and distribute 10,000 Easter baskets—containing meat, pasta, chocolate, flowers and an Easter candle—to displaced Ukrainian families.  A gift of $50 sponsors one of these Easter baskets and supports one family in their celebration of the Resurrection. That is why we are running a special, time-sensitive campaign to raise money to put these baskets together.  This is a digital-only campaign, so please share this link and encourage your brother Knights to sponsor an Easter basket:  donate.kofccharities .org/ Easter   *Please Note: Donations already made to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund cannot be repurposed for this campaign. Councils may claim program credit for contributing to both the Ukraine Solidarity Fund and the Easter basket campaign. For questions, please contact  fraternalmission@kofc.org  or 203-752-4270.

St. Patricks day Leftovers

Dear Worthy Brothers - I have attached a word document outlining what it takes to feed 100 people for our St. Patrick's Dinner. I initially purchased for 100 people showing up, since there was always a chance for a few last-minute arrivals to wanting to buy a ticket.  As it was, somewhere around only 80 people showed up, while 96 tickets were sold.  Had all 100 showed up, I'm fairly certain we would have still had enough food for all with the revised amounts shown in the attached document. The one area where I overbought by a lot was the condiments.  We still have a significant amount of horseradish, horseradish sauce, and yellow mustard that is not opened. These are for sale, and I will bring them to the next member meeting.  If they are not purchased, we can donate them to the food bank - the unopened horseradish needs refrigeration. I reviewed the actual amounts of food that were purchased versus the amount of food that was not eaten after second helpings and taken home and

St Patricks Dinner Results of donations for Ukraine.

:  Dear Worthy Brothers - Congratulations to all of you that donated money to the fund, including those parishioners who donated at our recent St. Patrick's Dinner. We have attained our initial goal of $1000.00.  At our next meeting our WFS Jim will have issued a warrant for $1000.00 for a check issued by our WT Rex, to be paid to Knights of Columbus Charities, Inc. and mailed to: P.O. Box 1966, New Haven, CT, 06510-1966. On the check memo line, we will write Ukraine Solidarity Fund.  Keep up the great work and spread the word - we are still going to be collecting money for this fund, since it has zero overhead.  100% of all monies collected will be sent to the Polish Knights of Columbus for supporting all refugees crossing their border.  Any personal donations using checks should also be marked on the memo line Ukraine Solidarity fund and may be placed in the K of C pigeon-hole mailbox in the anteroom of the Admin Office in a sealed envelope marked to the attention of K of C Counc

Next Exemplifications

Dear Worthy Brothers: Our next Exemplification of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity for Third Degree Knighthood is scheduled for April 24, 2022. I invite everyone of you to participate in this ceremony, which is open to your spouses, and family to observe.  Some of you have asked in the past if being a Third Degree Knight involves more than what you are doing now as a first- or second-degree Knight.  I can assure you it does not, unless you want to donate more of your time.  The only three things a 3rd Degree Knight has that a 1st or 2nd degree Knight does not have, is:  1: the ability to be an elected or appointed officer should he want to be, 2. at the time of your death, spouses of 3rd degree Knights can request a Rosary be said by other Knights at the wake/viewing, if held at the church, as was done with Deacon Larry.  If the wake or viewing is held at a funeral home, then permission must be obtained from the funeral home in order to conduct a prayer service like the Rosary. 3.
